Perfect . The installtion is so simply. Plug the included cables into your 2 devices. Plug your monitor into the switch.

Thats it! It works perfectly, I switch back and forth between my PC and 360. There is no loss in quality, no ghosting, etc.

Not only that but I have my USB keyboard plugged into the switch, and whenever I switch from PC to 360 (by a push of a button) it also switches the keyboard over. So I can type messages to my friends without the hassle of changing cables. Honestly worth every penny!
Kinamax KVM-USB2 2-Port USB 2.0 and VGA/SVGA KVM Switch Box with 2 Sets of Cables Reviews
Hooking up the Kinamax . I hooked up an older computer that had PS2 mouse/keyboard and a newer one that uses USB mouse/keyboard. Basically, it works, but the PS2 computer doesn't recognize the USB mouse/keyboard at boot up until you confirm the keyboard is hooked up by pressing F1.

The VGA monitor is hooked up with a DVI to VGA adaptor on both computers, and then feeds into the Kinamax. Although the Kinamax supports higher resolutions, it defaults to 600x800 on the newer computer, a problem for me because I use Photoshop and Premiere that recommends higher resolutions. But if I boot the computer with monitor directly hooked to the computer, then physically unhook and plug the monitor into the Kinamax, it'll display the higher resolution. This isn't a problem with the PS2 computer. I can't figure out why this is.

In short, the Kinamax works. If I boot then hook up the monitor through the Kinamax, I can switch with ease between the two computers. The mouse/keyboard hook up doesn't have any real problems except for pressing F1 during booting on the PS2 computer.

Great device for the price. . I just needed a basic switch to go between my two boxes I have at my house. One is a XP Professional, and the other is a Fedora 11. Both are shared now to my Dell monitor, keyboard and mouse. I didn't need anything fancy, and with the way my household is having to "tighten the belt", something cheap.

I'm very happy with this, sure it has a slight delay of a couple of seconds but it gets the job done. Which is why I gave it 5 stars. Plus the fact you don't need any power source for it as it gets it's power from the system that's active at the time.
Beware if USB 2.0 is important for extra USB device! . Installation is easy and switching works as advertised. I'm not using the video part, so I can't comment on that. However, despite the label written on the device itself being "USB 2.0 KVM Switch", it does not function properly with USB 2.0 devices such as an external hard drive.

I'm switching between a system running Windows 7 (64 bit) and Windows XP. I can boot successfully with the switch in place and set to the booting computer with no error messages and all USB devices recognized. As soon as I use the switch to go to the second computer, the newly attached system gives a "this device can perform faster if attached to a USB 2.0 port" message. This happens on every subsequent switchover. The upshot is that I can't successfully share a hard drive at USB 2.0 speeds with this device on top of the annoyance factor of getting warning messages on every switchover.

The keyboard/mouse part of the switching works with no problems, so in all fairness, the device is functional for its stated purpose as a KVM switch. My frustration lies with not being able to fully utilize that extra USB port for another USB (2.0) device.

Excellent product! . Works out of the box. The pins on a couple of the cable connectors were bent when I unwrapped them but they could be rebent into shape easily. Not a problem. Monitor switching is a snap. No resolution issues.

One problem is a picture offset sometimes after switching. I think I've fixed that (and it probably isn't something that this box is at fault for). The deeper issue is a loose connection somewhere (the screws on the cable connectors do not screw in properly to the terminals on the box). This leads to pink-hued screens sometimes but this is easily fixed by securing the box and cables somewhere (perhaps to the monitor?) with mounting tape so it doesn't move too much. It's really not a big deal since the whole point of the device is to make a semi-permanent station to control and view multiple PCs with a single mouse/keyboard/monitor. On the plus side, the cables are good quality, the box itself is nice and has a simple push-button switch with LEDs that indicate which computer is being controlled.
Kinamax KVM Review . This product works very well for me. I am easily able to work on two computers at the same time with the push of a button. It allows me to do my work and save time.
A great device! . I'm really satisfied with the device. Quick installation, switches easily between two different systems (MBP w/ OS X and a CentOS linux server). Switching is responsive and instantaneous. (note: switching is manual on this device, i.e., you have to click a button on the switch itself, no "keyboard shortcut" or something)

I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for two (subjective) things:
-- Uses extremely bright blue LEDs to indicate which output is active. Since I need to keep it close to reach and switch, it's distracting to have so much glare, esp. in a dim room. I ended up taping a few layers of masking tape over each LED to reduce brightness.
-- USB ports "feel" flimsy. The connectors are actually kept well secured inside, so it's only a feeling, but still, I would appreciate if you couldn't just "jiggle" the cable - I don't know if the cables will start falling out after use.

Cons Review
KVM switch . We purchased three of these and within a month the first one failed. The next one stopped working a week later. Yesterday the last one quit. POOR quality.
Garbage in Garbage Returned . I was excited to find a cost-efficient 2-port solution from Kinamax and ordered it without hesitation. And because it was only $14.99 I don't even recall whether I bothered to read the consumer reviews...or maybe there wasn't one? I honestly don't remember.

5 days after ordering the product, and 5 days of cumulative excitement mounting to put this product to work so that I could switch between both of my desktops and my single wide-screen monitor seamlessly - it finally arrived!

I opened the carefully packaged box, lots of cables and adapters and started to acquaint myself with the main switch box. This switch box has a prominent silver button which I instantly assumed was the button one depresses when switching between the two desktops.

When I hit the button, gingerly, it immediately went into the cavity of the switch and was rendered useless. Still, I tried to set-up the product and see if I could un-depress the button, to no avail.

My counsel to you dear bargain hunter is to step-up another $10 to purchase the ioGear KVM 2-Port switch, which has much sturdier component parts and does the job as advertised.

Stopped working after a week. . This item was easy to install. It actually worked for about a week. Then, the keyboard and mouse stopped responding. I tried to reinstall the device, but I was unable to get neither the keyboard nor the mouse to work again. Since I definitely had a need for a KVM switch, I purchased a unit that was on sale for $5 less than I paid for the Kinamax KVM. That device(Rosewill Model RKV-2P) has more functionality, better documentation and works better than the Kinamax. I am not in the habit of giving reviews on products. However, I have appreciated the many reviews of others that I have read concerning products that I have consider purchasing. In fact, I believe that I read some reviews suggesting that the Kinamax device was weak. I should have taken the hint.
