Sweet device! . I first used the Wifi station Ext and was duly impressed.
So I picked up the the standard Wifi station thinking it was the same. It uses the same chip set but contains a dual polarized panel. so it is directional, but because it tries so hard to suck in the signal it you cant always tell were the AP is.
Now for some real fun, I siliconed the seams and put it with a sat dish reflector! Works very well going through brush and trees to hit an AP 1/4 mile away!If you want omni go with the Ext. If you want distance and can point it around a little this is the best you can buy in 2011!

Ubiquiti Wifistation USB Adapter 802.11g/n up to 1000mW Reviews
Does what it says and is great. . Went from 20-30% signal strength at 50 yards and through 2 walls to 75%-80%. I think it looks pretty cool (I like flashing LED's) but it is a little bigger than iPod Touch. So if you are looking for small this is not it. Recommend this to anyone looking to cheaply boost WiFi range.
Added 2/17/2011: Really sucks with Win7ult. Driver must not work or I just didn't do anything right (and I did everything). Device constantly is ejected and loses signal. Don't buy this POS. I'm over getting shafted online by retailers who sell us the cheap Chinese crap. Yep it boosts your reception strength but it wont stay connected in Win7 so whats the point?

Ubiquiti Wifistation USB Adapter 802.11g/n up to 1000mW Opinions
excellent wireless adapter . This is an excellent wireless adapter, works well for me in Ubuntu Linux and Windows 7 (note the client application doesn't work on Win7 but the driver DOES; see the back of its box and the CD, it clearly says so. Also ubnt website has an newer version of driver and client application but somehow the client application gives me some strange readings. Note sure if Ubiquiti support people can see this but I hope they can and then fix the issue). You only install the driver on Win7 from the CD, then use it like any other wireless adapters on Windows.
For Linux, you'll need do a little DIY (which means to compile kernel and wireless driver by yourself; google "WiFiStation Ext works on Linux" - you'll find the instructions of how to do it. Note the post is about Wifistation EXT, which is also from Ubiquiti, and it has idProduct 0xb003; for Wifistation, you should use idProduct 0xb002. Compilation and installation is like a breeze if you carefully read the instruction.)
All in all, this product has great range, decent speed, with a reasonable price. Highly recommended if you want decent wireless signal strength on the client side.

Cons Review
beware . I purchased the Ubiquiti wifi product from an Amazon vendor, and it picked up a signal but was less effective that my laptop without it- in fact I could not connect with the Ubiquiti product. The vendor had no manual on hand to assist me and tossed my over to the manufacturer. I could only get an answering machine at their service dept and left several messages- to date I have received no return call from Ubiquiti. The vendor initially told me he would charge me a 35% restocking fee, but when I contacted the owner he promised a full refund- I have returned the product and am awaiting same. I would avoid purchasing any Ubiquiti product.
