This review is from : LaCie 130804 eSATA PCI Express Card - Windows / Macintosh
LaCie eSATA works great (after firmware update) . I needed this card because my Buffalo drives FW800 chips don't play with my brand new Mac Pro FW800 chips. Fortunately the drives have eSATA and the LaCie PCI express card seemed the best choice (price, reputation) to install in the MP. Initially the card worked, but whenever the computer went to sleep the drive icons became non-functional and the drives sort of disappeared. I quickly initiated a problem ticket with LaCie and they produced a second firmware update. Ever since the card and drives work as expected. Data rate is supposed to be even faster than FW800 and although I haven't checked, the rate is at least fast enough for real time processing of HD video using iMovie.
PROS: unit installed easily, LaCie responded quickly, and the fix solved all issues.
CONS: the eSATA cable connector was a real struggle to mate with the LaCie card. Took lots of wiggling and inspecting. Thought I was going to break something. The same connector fit easily onto the Buffalo drive side, so I think the card side is at fault.

Cons Review
Is it really a LaCie product? . I just received my card and haven't installed or confirmed its functionality. However, after seeing the hardware and it's packaging I do not believe this is a LaCie product. It is not a listed product on LaCie's site catalogue and web searches do not provide any supporting evidence.

The product may function fine, but if you are looking for a real LaCie product then you may want to do your own research. As it stands, the price is right and the product may function perfectly on your system. I believe this is a Skymaster SATA II PCI Express Card (S3132 as printed on the circuit board).
