No bells and whistles but it does what it says . I bought this for a way to play my avi movies on the bedroom TV. The dvd player in the bedroom only plays dvd's it won't play avi movies or anything. I also have alot of stuff, mainly anime that's in RMVB format and was looking for a way to watch it on the TV versus a computer screen. I could have hooked the computer up to the HDTV in the living room but I'm lazy and didn't want to have to get up after each episode to start the new one. This little box does the trick. It does exactly what it says, plays several formats of files right on your tv. You can hook it up to a SDTV with the red/white/yellow cables of hook it to an HDTV with component cables, both are included. I only hooked to to my HDTV for a few min just to test it out. The picture quality was pretty good. It's going to be hooked up on my SDTV and the picture quality is just fine on it too. There's no bells or whistles on this thing just the basic functions which is all I need. The menu is pretty simplistic too. A screen to select what you want to play and it does have a preview window which is nice. It's very small and lightweight, about the size of a portable hard drive which is good if you need to bring it in the car or on a trip. One major thing to note, which almost pissed me off because I thought the thing wasn't working right..... The default setting is PAL and when you first hook it up the video will be all messed up. All you have to do is press the AV button on the remote and set it to NTSC. After that your set to go. Another thing to note is the default volume is set to mute so make sure you turn the volume up on the player before you get mad about no sound. Once you have those to things set it will keep you settings even if you turn it off or unplug it. Overall I am very happy with this unit. It does what it is supposed to do and for $25 it's a great value. I'd recommend this unit to anyone.

Surprisingly decent . Despite what the other reviewers say, I find this product to be surprisingly decent.
I purchased mine from a new seller (risky- I know), but I simply couldn't resist the very low price it was selling for.
I download a lot of tv shows, and sometimes I get tired of watching them on my computer. I have been searching for an inexpensive devise to meet my needs for a while, and I'm happy to say the NBOX gets the job done. :]
However, there are a few confusing buttons on the remote. One of them [the second from the bottom on the right] I would suggest not pressing. The image on the tv screen starts scrolling if you press it. Its an easy fix though, you just press the button again and it stops. Just below that button is a screen resolution button that I recently discovered. Its pretty neat.
Anyway, Overall, Its the best $10 I ever spent on Amazon. :]

this thing is great . this thing does what it says itll do. i just plug my junk drive in it and i watch stuff. its great.
NBOX Media Player . this media player is simple, but great! Very small and is perfect for my needs. Have converted divx, AVI files for my sons cartoons and works great! I have a Western digital 250GB portable Hard drive and it powers it no problem! It specifies it does not power these Hard drives but it did for me, it will for you. buy this if your looking for a simple media player.
works great . Great deal at an affordable price. Absolutely nothing bad with it. I wish I could tie it in with my DVD drive. Maybe I can; I havent played with it much.
Cons Review
Had to return product . I bought this product for use with an SDTV because I have the Micca HD which does not work well with SDTVs. This is in the same category; it is not very compatible with regular TVs. The images were terrible, and then the product started freezing. Eventually, the light on the hard drive I had connected to the product started blinking and wouldn't work so I promptly repackaged the product and shipped it back. In all I played with the product for about 2 hours and it performed poorly. I was very disappointed.
Pretty limited . Basically this box locates audio/video/photo files on a usb drive for playback on your TV/audio system. However it wouldn't work right on my 1TB USB drive- it could locate files but not load them. But even if it did, my LG blu-ray player has the same capability, and also supports streaming audio/video, such as netflix, vudu, pandora etc., plus of course plays blu-ray. If you are just looking at the cheapest way to access an external USB drive through your tv (and apparantly under 1TB), this will probably do, however if you can pop $100 or so there are much better and more versatile ways to do this.
pure Garbage . I have ordered hundreds of items through Amazon and this is the first one I am returning, there is nothing good I can say about this product. The remote is barely functional, you have to mash down on the buttons and hold it down for at least a second before it responds. Scrolling through menus it jumps ahead or back making it very difficult to select what you want. The music has no random mode what so ever which baffles me entirely, combined with the garbage remote listening to music would be a nightmare and aggravating. I stopped there and sent it back, I didn't need to try it with movies because if it cannot handle music why bother? Even with using a powered hard drive every folder and file said zero bytes.
I guess you get what you pay for and to be honest I would keep it just because returning it will cost enough as it is but it's that bad. Sorry Amazon, I do not like returning products but you should stop selling this piece of garbage. Do not waste your time on this thing.
