Adequate but sometimes slow; Average reliability . I use my 2 TB Time Capsule for a wireless router and for wireless backups from my Mac mini.
As a router, it's pretty reliable. I do have problems connecting to it using my iPhone 3GS. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. When it works, there are times it will stop working seemingly for no reason. Frustrating. Otherwise, my MacBook and Mac mini both connect every time and the connection is very reliable.
The Time Machine feature for backups works very well. It's nice to not have to think about backups. It just works, backs up everything, and I don't have to worry about it.
The problem with the wireless backup system is that it's *extremely* slow, and it interferes with my use of my Internet connection. It would be nice if it would throttle the backups when I'm using my connection so that it doesn't interfere. Or maybe it should only do backups when the computer is idle. And I'm not talking about the initial backup of my whole system...I'm referring to the incremental daily backups that are occurring months later.
My Linksys router that I had for years and years finally failed, but it worked much better than Time Capsule before it failed. My recommendation to anyone reading this is to buy a regular router, and then just use a USB or FireWire hard drive for backups.
I haven't used the printer sharing features of Time Capsule, so I can't speak to that.

Apple Time Capsule MC344LL/A 2TB [OLD VERSION] Reviews
Really Great Product! . I bought this product with some hesitation after reading some negative reviews. I have been using this product for about 4 months now and I have had no issues with it. It does exactly as it says. The only thing is that it backs up really slow over wireless but I have it hooked straight to my computer and it is a lot faster. Overall very satisfied with this purchase. It has already helped me recover some important files that I deleted by accident.

Apple Time Capsule MC344LL/A 2TB [OLD VERSION] Opinions
wanted a backup and use it for more . a computer or its accessory os good if you do not know about it. I put this one up day one and it's been on ever since. I even use the 5Ghz network it provides (I already had router before but now I use this as a wifi router).
guest network is easy if needed (but I do that from the old router).
Backup: the default is every 5 or 10 minutes, so I set it to daily in the Preferences (Mac OS X). perfectly fine with time machine.

Apple has done it again. . I bought this for our family home wireless network. It backs up three computers and is our wireless router and as with many Apple products, it just works.
It took about 25 minutes from the time I plugged it in until the Time Capsule had captured the information to 'talk' to my DSL modem and account with Earthlink. Now I never think about backing up and my internet connection runs faster.

The best product of its kind: wireless router and hard drive NAS reliable and works . This product, while limited in features compared to other NAS solutions is superior, because everything it says it will do, IT ACTUALLY DOES and does well. Setup is as easy as it could possibly be, using any mac just run the airport utility already built into OSX, or if you have a PC download the airport utility for pc from apple. I have used both, and both work very easily. Once the grueling 2 minute setup process is finished (joke), you never have to do anything again.
As a router:
The unti functions flawlessly as a wireless router with 3 hard wired gigabit ethernet ports and of course wireless N connectivity. It has never needed rebooting, has fast and flawless internet connectivity. I even have a 300ft cable (actually a powerline connection) to a wireless access point (TrendNet access point) to extend the signal into a wooded area. Both the time capsule and access point have WPA to keep the network secure. And it all works FLAWLESSLY.
As a network hard drive:
And, it just shows up in Windows as a mapped drive 'z' or in finder (OSX) with whatever name you gave the drive under the heading 'shared'. (right above 'places'). Just drag and drop, copy, double click to run, whatever, just like any other folder or drive on your computer. Files open quickly and so do even large video files. I haven't used it as a time machine backup because I prefer to just use disk utility to create an image of my system, then use it to restore that image if at all necessary. I use a OSX freeware utility called Unison to automatically sync the folders I care about with folders having the same name on the time capsule drive. I have a usb hub with an ethernet adapter built into it, I just plug that in to dock my laptop, and while the laptop is docked I sync files.
Of course using the gigabit wired connection is faster for file transfer, but even with the wireless connection files open quickly (including videos).
If I could figure out the proper SMB:// path I could probably stream videos from the time capsule to my iphone using Buzz Player, but I haven't been able to make that work- instead I just run streaming software on my mac laptop (Air Video Server) or copy the files to my iphone using a usb cable.
In summary, don't mess around with other NAS drives (see my other reviews), this drive basically only functions as a router and a wireless or wired NAS hard drive, but in those two roles it is very reliable and has high performance. Other NAS drives seem to offer more, but are not reliable and/or are slow. Learn from my experience and do yourself a favor and get a time capsule!

Fantastic Product Fantastic Company . What can I say, it works.
I recommend Time Capsule for sharing data or for backups, not both. If you need both, get 2 Time Capsules, one for each use. For sharing data, Time Capsule is great. Every computer on the network can access the device easily.
The Time Capsule provides the easiest back ups possible. It is very easy to set-up and use. I suggest one user per Time Capsule. This keeps set-up simple, and provides the maximum storage space possible. If you have a laptop, this is the backup solution for you. If you have a desktop computer, I'd suggest a dedicated Firewire 800 hard drive for backups. Why? Because wireless is SLOW when compared with wired. USB is SLOW compared to Firewire 800, but USB is faster than wireless. So why do I recommend Time Capsule for laptops? To get rid of the wires, that's why you have a laptop. With any backup system your first backup will take a LONG time, but subsequent backups will be much quicker. Just be patient.
With backups, easy is a must. If it's not easy, it's not going to happen. Mac users? Use Time Machine. It works.
Some people complain that Time Capsules sometimes break. Yep, happens. Grow up, it's mechanical, it'll break. Get AppleCare for it. When it breaks, Apple will fix it. But my backups are on it! So? I assume you didn't kill your computer too. Just make a new backup and move on.
If your computer data is important to you, get a Time Capsule, or many. It's the best backup solution out there. I know, I've tried many. I want easy, dependable. This is it.

The product works great however several of my printers can't work with it . Just received the product the day before last, and am very happy with it and it's back-up capabilities, as well as a high-speed router! The only thing I want to mention, that I didn't really see mentioned before I bought the product, is that I have only been able to get my newest Canon printer to work with the product. My two older HP windows based printers have yet to be recognized. (I wanted to get a new printer anyway, so it's probably not too much of an issue for me, but wanted to let others know)..
makes backup and recovery so simple . I've a 500GB and this 2TB version. the 500GB saved me once before with my older mac book pro. I decided to get this one just for my new mac book pro. definitely worth having.
Cons Review
unreliable connection . Having owned this for a few months, I must say it is not an improvement over the old model. I use the Time Capsule with a Mac Mini and mid-2011 MacBook Air. Here are my issues:> 5GHz connection is flakey. It tends to stall, then creep along, and then become non responsive. This is almost daily occurrence.
> Oftentimes, TIme Machine cannot find the Time Capsule, so there are many missed backups. I have to unplug the Capsule to get Time Machine to see the disk again.
> About once a month, Time Capsule will say it cannot find the backup, so it has to create a new one. I can see and open the file in Finder, bUt Time Machine won't see it. Never had this problem with my older version Time Capsule.
> The connection is just slow. I have compared it to our U-verse modem's direct wireless connection, and the Capsule seems about 30% slower in side-by-side comparisons.
> External HDDs plugged into the Time Capsule are not reliable. About half the time, Finder on my Mac Mini cannot see it until I reset the Time Capsule. For future backup needs, I will buy individual external disks and go with a more standard wireless router from the likes of Linksys. As much as I enjoy Apple products, I cannot recommend this one.

Returned for refund...not worth the whopping price tag . I read the reviews here on Amazon as well as some other websites, but still I thought I'd give it a try...BIG MISTAKE! This Apple product, the 2TB Time Capsule is definitely not worth the hefty cost.
1) The 802.11n WiFi is significantly slower than my Cisco valet Plus; a lot of wireless devices in my home disconnected & reconnected repeatedly...very unreliable & very unsteady! my space is 1385 sq ft total.
2) The Time Machine backups for my MacBook Pro (mid 2010) took forever at 210GB total.
Many, many reviews and discussion forums have exposed this product as being deficient and unreliable.
In the end, I returned mine for a full refund and reinstalled my Cisco Valet Plus. All the WiFi signals are strong throughout my home again.
