Not just a router . I bought one last week. It's said refurbished, but actually brand new packed as refurbished.
This little box comes with 453M CPU, 64M RAM and 8M flash, 4+1 Gigabit ethernet ports and 1 USB 2.0 port.
This $50 router can be turned into a $600 high configurable router once it's flashed with Tomato or DD-WRT firmware. Here is the partial list of the features.
Wireless client/bridge, adjustable wireless transmission power, QoS, PPTP or Open VPN server and client, ssh server and client, wireless hotspot and more.
With the USB 2.0 port, you get more storage to install Openwrt packages to make it as a little Linux server. It can do whatever a Linux box can do but with next to none power consumption. Samba server, Asterisk server, Webcam server, media server, printer server and more. You can put lots of USB peripheral to this small box with a USB hub.
Right now, I am connecting two USB webcams for home security and two USB harddrives to share my media files over my LAN. And at the same time it runs an Asterisk server with 8 extensions for my home and family without any problem.

WNR3500L and DD-WRT . Purchased this to replace a DLink router that has trouble with some SIP phones. I flashed the unit with DD-WRT and it works perfectly!
I followed the instructions on the DD-WRT wiki page and was up and running in about 25 minutes.

Chipset Broadcom4718A
RAM 64 MB
FLASH 8 MB
USB port for adding more memory and printers.
Awesome router!
NetGear WNR3500L-100NAS Rangemax Wireless-N Gigabit Router with USB (Factory Refurbished) Opinions
Refurbished warranty not the same as a new product . I gave this product a three star rating for an important reason. Although it does seem to work very well once it is set up, trying to get assistance with it through warranty, because it is refurbished was very difficult for me. Immediately upon receiving this product I had to call them to assist me in setting it up because it didn't come with the set up wizard disc because it was a refurbished product. I would have received the disc if I had purchased it new. For some reason, I was given a hard time with tech support because the item was "refurbished". They wanted to direct me to the "pay as you go" department. I threw a fit because all I needed was help setting it up...and finally received assistance to get it set up. They then informed me that the product is only covered for 90 days. I recently changed internet carriers and for some reason my wireless printer was not working so I called them again. The guy tired to send me to the pay as you go department claiming that notes on my account had directed me to them before. I stated that I did not pay for info last time just to set it up and that I shouldn't have to just to set it up again. Because I was within my 90 days by two days, he reluctantly assisted me. NOTE: I'd pay the extra money for a new one next time as opposed to a refurbished unit. If I am not mistaken, if it is new it carries a lifetime warranty if you are the original buyer. I'm not saying don't buy this product, simply pay more for a new one.... less headaches in the long run.
Thoroughly impressed . I can only agree with the other reviewers here - this is one hell of a router for the price. Ironically, I once swore to never buy a Netgear product again, after having nothing but problems with an earlier N-150, but being in a situation when I needed something fast, and that something needed to be DD-WRT-compatible, I simply went ahead and took the risk, after reading the favorable reviews here (not so favorable on the actual not refurbished product's page, btw).
Just as some others, the original firmware couldn't even detect my WAN, so the unfavorable reviews are easy to understand. Luckily, I didn't care in this case, and after about 30 minutes of research and installation (would take more like 10 minutes now that I know what exactly to install and how), I had a loaded machine with a plethora of options, more than I'll ever need it seems. Has been running glitch-free for three days so far, and I couldn't be happier. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of poor original firmware, which might be a real problem for some.
Better than expected . I've owned a couple of Linksys routers in the past, and my only experience with Netgear was helping a friend long ago, and I had problems maybe due to incorrect assumptions.

Then, I got AT&T u-verse, which came with a wireless router. I recently switched to Comcast cable, and needed a wireless router, so I decided on this one. It arrived promptly, with priority shipping, and looked brand new. I tested it by connecting to my existing u-verse router (I had no choice, the modem and router are not separate). The Netgear router told me this was not ideal, but worked perfectly anyway. It was easy to set up, having a web URL that was easy to see ([...]).

The next day, Comcast did the install, we reset the router, connected it up, and it worked perfectly from that point on. All my computers (mac, Windows, and Linux) worked with no problem, including my ipods and Roku player. I haven't had a chance to check wireless N, but my old laptop is getting 20 mb/s on speedtest, with about 3.75 mb/s upload. I haven't had a lot of wireless experience with it yet, but the signal strength is good, and I haven't seen any problems.

As a bonus, the UPS from the u-verse modem, which they did not want back, was the exact same voltage, size and polarity as the Netgear router, so I am able to have batter backup for the wireless connection. I'm assuming the modem has a battery backup, since it operates the phone, although I haven't actually tested this yet.
Works great . It arrived, I plugged it in. I needed to learn about the more sophisticated security options. It's now working fine. I'm looking forwards to years of service.
It Works! It Works Well! . I don't really know much about wifi functionality. My need was simple - I needed to find a router that worked as an extender to a Netgear WNR834Bv2 router. After a little digging online I figured out how to get the setup done. It took a little work but it now works like a charm! I'm very happy. The ONE problem is I've had to reduce the security on the network to WEP because that's all my router supports. Seems a little backward to me, but what to do?

The router seems to have a tonne of features, but like I said, I'm far from an expert.
Excellent router great value . This router has a lot of features - Gigabit LAN, wireless N, USB storage, DD-WRT support ..., you may find one or two in other routes, but all of them? not likely.

Cons Review
Buy new not refurbished . The router could not be set up properly - no internet access, would not allow a firmware update, Netgear refused to provide technical service since it was a refurbished item. Interesting that the serial number was missing from the back of the unit.

Have RMA'ed the refurbished unit and ordered a new unit for a few $$ more. Amazon made the return process simple.
