Not as bad as they say.... . This little unit works great for me along with an H500 bluetooth headset. I use it for making calls via Skype and have had great success. I bought mine used from another very large online auction site and also didn't receive any drivers.

A resourceful and web savvy internet user could have easily found them and had them installed in less than 20 minutes....At least that's what I did. Lot's of folks have them posted on FTP servers and other locations. They are out there, you just need to put forth a little effort in finding them.

My experience with this product has been just fine.

Don't lose your disk . Product work fine once you figure out it's little idiosyncracies. Had a lot of trouble getting the computer to recognize the adapter whenever i unplugged it. Had to remove and reinstall the software on occasion. Also remember once it tells you that a connection has been established you may still need to press the button on the RIGHT side of the headphones (Motorola HT820) to hear anything. Would recommend it if you can get it at a good price like i did, but would not buy it retail.

problems and Motorola's tech support no help . I wanted to Yahoo Messenger VOIP using a wireless headset, another Motorola product the HT820.

Motorola support has been helpful but unsuccessful resolving setup issues. The headset with the PC connects only with repeated setups and often without the microphone. Getting the microphone to work so that I can VOIP with the PC is a curious setup problem.

The Motorola headset works fine with my cellphone.

But buying this USB blue tooth adapter to connect the Motorola HT820 headset to the PC's unsatisfactory.

March 2010

Once setup the device is relatively trouble free and I'm still happily using it. There are occassional problems connecting to a headset after the headset's been connected to another device.
Excellent . I purchased three of these for an unbelievablely low price two for my kids (To keep the Peace!) and they work like a charm. My youngest installed hers all by herself, with no problem. We all have them connected to our laptops and paired to our LG Headsets. I have mine paired with four devices and also connect it to my Desktop at work. No problems what so ever and at that price I should have brought four more for gifts! In my opinion they are very much worth the price and have worked well for listening to music and web audio. I will add this last bit of information, I am an IT Professional with years of experience, so common user problem are something I can over come. None the less neither myself or my kids encountered any problems of any sort.

Cons Review
Beware lack of drivers and non-standard CD . Unit ships with a mini-CD that cannot be read by many CD drives, and you cannot use the product until you install the software. Amazingly, per Motorola technical support, there is NO way to download the drivers and there is NO option for them to send you the software on a standard size CD. I would downgrade this product for extremely shabby support policies, and have returned mine in protest to this stupidity. What decent company doesn't support driver downloads? (yes, they do for other products)
Horrible Support . Here I am, out of town with my phone, my laptop and my bluetooth adapter. The bluetooth adapter software is installed on the home computer, but not the laptop. "No problem," I think to myself, "I'll just download the drivers."

WRONG! Motorola, unlike most consumer-friendly technology vendors, does not make their drivers available online for ALOT of their products. In this day and age, there's no excuse for not making drivers available for download as a part of your customer service. This is a true failure on Motorola's part.

I'll definitely remember this when I'm looking to buy products in the future!
...pro...CONS.... . pro: It's Bluetooth
CON: Everthing else.

Poor voice quality. No... that is NO download support. If you buy this you better store the CD in a fire proof safe cuz if you lose it you will never be able to install it again.
Get with the program . Like others, MOT policy of not making the software available online stinks. I bought mine in Salt lake City while working there for a number of days - and I think I left the disk in the packaging I threw out when I left.

The phone support was OK, and we got it working on my laptop - sortof - but the sortof I think was related to the poor wireless in the hotel.. Anyway, I'm home with no disk, and they want more for the disk than I paid for the unit. I think I will also return this, inspite of how much I like it, in protest. maybe if MOT gets a few hundred back, they'll wake up and do the right thing.
Crashed my computer . The software didn't install properly and when I updated the driver through device manager the upgraded driver crashed Microsoft Windows 7 and I had to reformat my computer and start all over.
Motorola doesn't know what they are doing . the item is great, if you can find the drivers you need for it. I'm still on the phone with motorola and they say it doesn't need drivers. it worked on my old comp, and i just got a new one. it should work for both.
