Excellent device and DDWRT friendly router . I was in search of economic router to extend the reach of my wireless network. So I bought the router TpLink wr740n version 2 (the one with the UFO shape) which conforms with this premise, however I did not expect anything special from this wireless router, if it was capable of maintaining a speed of 54Mbps I'd be satisfied.
So being a low-cost device and with the purpose of conducting a performance test, I decided to change the stock firmware with DDWRT firmware and that was an excellent decision, the device provides a super stable signal, wireless speed of 65Mbps at mixed mode BGN, it could reach the 150Mbps at N mode but I have to bear with my old wifi devices, good power (the router wr740n comes with a 5dBi antenna), the wan port (blue) is now an additional switch port, I bought it a month ago and I have not had to reboot it.
Summarizing, this router, as second AP, is just what I needed plus all the improvements and tweaks the DDWRT firmware provides, it was an Excelent purchase.

Great buy for what I need. . This was a great buy, and works perfectly. Had no problem setting up and connecting with the modem I got from Comcast. It came faster than I expected and has been great for my apartment.

Not bad for low price . I've been using this wireless for a month and it works fine. Sometimes the wireless router is automatically down when I watch streaming videos from the Internet. I'll then have to reboot the router occasionally.

Very pleased . Prompt delivery, good product. I am not well versed in wireless but I got 'walk-through' support on the telephone. Now working well.
Great Service . So I bought this product and I was having a hard time installing it. Then I called the customer service and got installed. It was a lot of tech things I wouldn't of been able to figure out on my own. Overall I really like the TP-Link brand and the customer service was outstanding. I've had a Linkys before and they charged me to set it up.
tp link router TL-WR740n 150Mbps ! . With the experience that I have had with my new router I give AMAZON (4 STAR) and TP LINKS costumer service ( A & 5 STARS). The router is great once you get it configured and TP LINKS costumer service took care in helping me with that problem.The range and the signal is very strong to all the computers (4) in my home. Of the 150Mbps I see a steady stream of 120Mbps and that is with all wireless adapters, so I think that is good for an average.This is a great upgrade for my network and I see an inprovement the first day.The TP-LINK TL-WR740N 150Mbps is a GREAT router for the price. Buy for you and a friend you both will like the inprovement that you see. THANKS AMAZON!
Very pleased . I've been very pleased with all my TP-Link products I've used so far. You can also load DD-WRT onto them which is nice if you're looking for some extra features. If you're looking at buying these for DD-WRT, you need to know that you can't enable 40mhz band without purchasing a code from DD-WRT. So you're locked at 802.11n @ around 60mbps compared to 300mbps of 40mhz 802.11n. But I've found the TP-Link firmware to be good and very stable so far.
Reliable performance . I have used this router for one month and never lose the connection. The signal is reasonably strong to cover a two bedroom apartment and 2-3 computers. I encountered difficulty installing the router with the included cd-rom. But later I figured out how to resolve the problem with the manual. That's the only hassle I had with this router.
Has no universal repeater option . This is a nice router, but there is no option for repeater, even if you use ddwrt software.
