Plugged and Played . I don't really get into configuring these things. I just wanted it to work and it did so right out of the box. I just plugged in the power and the ethernet cables without any additional thinking. It appears to know which cable is the uplink and takes care of everything automatically. My only complaint is that the activity status lights are on the back where the cables are. Having the blinking lights on the front would deliver more value to the user.

Finally! Linksys did it . Very good switch! cold, fast, no configuration, connect the port 1 with a router and instantly be able to make transfers to gigabyte speed

Immediate improvement . We saw an immediate improvement over our old switch. Loving the faster speed and looking forward to the ability to wi-fi. We currently only use it through the cat6 wire throughout our house. We added more ports and it still performs great.

Linksys SE2500 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch Opinions
Worth the price for any data hogs . I upgraded to the SE2500 from a old EZXS55W (10/100). The added speed of 1000 is awesome.
I use this for my iMac's to connect to the router and network storage drive which are in a separate room.
The communication between everything is now much improved and more responsive.
As an added bonus everything I stream from the computer to wireless Apple AirPorts and Apple TV's has improved by replacing the old bottle neck switch.

Someone hit the "Easy Button" at Linksys . Easy set-up. Just plug it in. It's fast and has allowed me to set up a home network in a matter of minutes.
Gigabit switch . Works well for a dumb switch, I was disappointed when I get it though as I was expecting more than what it offered.Pros:

No settings to play with, offers 0 security (meaning anyone with access to it can just plug in and be on your network... well unless you do even more at your router to lock it down, but basically no port security), and my biggest disappointment was no QoS. I was hoping to select which devices I wanted to have higher bandwidth / service, but supposedly the switch has "built in" QoS detection and dynamically gives your media, etc. higher QoS.The fact that their is no configuration that I can do on the switch makes it a 3, otherwise it would be a 5. It has never dropped any traffic to any of my devices, looks great on my desk, and doesn't get all that warm.

RIGHT out of the box . Just as advertised. Works great! Simplified the wiring requirements for a group of remote devices. Easy to use, and setup; highly recommended.
Fast and easy to set up . I work in the IT field and would recommend this for media center drops or for that less tech savvy relative that calls you and wants you to "hook their DVD tape player to the internet"...we've all been there. Easy to setup with a small footprint that makes it easy to pass through those narrow entertainment center slots.
Works like a charm . This item literally worked right out of the box. I plugged it into my Apple Airport Extreme so I could run all of the data cables in my house. It took literally more time to fit the switch into my panel then it did to set-up. I wish I could have said the same with the CISCO router I had purchased.
Cons Review
Didn't work.... . I live in Brazil and I've spent my vacations in the USA. I bought this switch to add gigabit ethernet speeds to my home network....
I opened the box, plugged all the cables, powered it up and nothing happened.... Data just didn't go through the switch...
I've tried connecting my cables to every single port and zippo....I've done everything possible, but no matter what is connected tho the switch, no data goes through it. Not at all.... Ah, and the activity leds on the back never even blinked.....They just turn on during initial power up.
I'm an advanced computer user and I've already configured many different brands of routers, so I know how tho set them up...
I've contacted cisco's tech supp. and I was informed that I could only get tech supp. if I was inside the USA...My doubt: Isn't the switch supposed to work wherever I am in the world? What good is their brazilian tech supp. if they cannot either fix or replace a single deffective switch? I guess their only interest is corporate business, with expensive infrastructure....Conclusion: I cannot get it to work. I cannot get it replaced. Maybe I can use it as a decorative paper weight.....
