USB to SERIAL adapter that actually works! . After reading many of the reviews people had left about problems with these types of adapters, I settled on the CP Technoliges USB to Serial Adapter. The drivers installed with no problems. The throughput speed is much faster than expected, especially considering COM ports aren't the fasted things in the world! (I did increase the port speed manually, and the adapter was fine with it.)
Excellent product, at a great price. You should also note that this adapter is far less expensive than many of the others. If only everything was less expensive and worked better!

Works as Stated - Easy to Install . I needed this cable to use with my Garmin Rino 120 because my new laptop didn't have a serial adapter. My first try was to use a similiar product from Radio Shack, but I found the Radio Shack product was very confusing to use and was unstable. I ordered the CP Technologie product from Amazon and it worked great! Also, the CP Tech product was less than half the cost of the Radio Shack product (including shipping).

Installed on VISTA . Tried to follow the installation directions but they were not exact. Just keep looking for "PL2303HXD Vista Driver installer.exe" on the Driver CD and installs in minutes and works well.

Works for me! . Setup in seconds and worked fine for me to sync a Palm Vx with a Dell Windows XP machine. Just make sure that you install the drivers first (the CD is almost hidden in the packaging). My Palm also now syncs wayyyyyy faster than it did with a real serial port (which makes sense, that's why they did away with them), but it's a nice added benefit that my hotsync now only takes a second or so.
does the trick . it simply works. i run a serial based automotive program from a laptop to a car ecu w no problems.

Cons Review
Unreliable; died after a couple months . I bought this adapter for use with my Suunto X6HR watch. It seemed to work at first when first installed. But on subsequent usage, Windows would fail to properly recognize the adapter. Sometimes unplugging and replugging it would work, other times a reboot would do, and occasionally a reinstall of the driver was required. Also, it seemed to only work in the same USB port as it was originally install.

Does not work with Vista . The product did not work with Windows Vista and the manufacturer, CP Technologie (NOT Lexar as listed), refuses to provide the correct driver. Refusal to provide a driver is clearly stated on their web site. Zero customer service, zero support so I just wasted my money.
"Easy Installation"- not at all . The installation information was very specific and easy to understand. However, the inclosed CD did not contain anything near the files described on the instructions.
