Great Product . I got a new laptop with no IEEE 1394 port. so I searched on the Internet and found this one. Chatted with SYBA support team and decided to buy it. It works like a charm. Plugged it into PC Card slot, and connected to my Canon camcorder with supplied cable (yes comes with it). Open up Windows Movie Maker and that's it! Very happy with this product.
The support guy stated that this one uses TI chipset. My system is Windows 7, 64 bit.

Works great . Not much to review. I opened the package popped it in my laptop it automatically found the drivers and I began transfering video.... worked great!!

Cons Review
Didn't work possible expresscard or Win 7 problem . I couldn't get this to work to transfer taped HDV video to my laptop. apparently there is a problem with the 1394 driver, where for many people the problem is solved by switching to the "legacy" 1394 driver using device manager. The problem was reported for windows 7. I tried this, and it still did not work. Then they said some firewires have problems-- so I am returning it. I may try a different brand. The product worked in terms of my laptop recognizing the camera, and controlling the camera, but right at the point of transferring video tape it failed. I was able to see live video from my camcorder and have the laptop record the live video, but no dice on transferring tape.
Syba customer service actually recommended a different model Best Connectivity ExpressCard to Firewire IEEE 1394a Controller Card SD-EXP30012 (also available here)after I told them about the problem. It is only slightly more expensive.

Did not work . Purchased this fire wire card to run a camera but the card does not supply power. No power, no camera. It has 6 pins so it should have power. The product specs say nothing about no power.
