Netgear XAV5501 Powerline Network Adapter XAV5501-100NAS Powerline Network Adapters
This review is from : XAV5501 Powerline Network Adapter
Works like a Charm . After being frustrated with wifi problems I decided to go with this power line adapter. It works flawlessly, is trivial to set up and so far has worked in many temperature environments.

XAV5501 Powerline Network Adapter Reviews
Fixed 110V supply . Almost modern products are wide range power supply (100...240Vac). But my XAV5501 is 110Vac supply that can not use in my country without additional step down transformer. I've never seen any notice or some voltage selection for this before ordering.

Cons Review
Great product if you can afford a LOT of downtime . The hype for this product was good, so I bought it. Extending high quality internet connection speed to the other side of the apartment seemed a good idea. And the solution looked a good one for someone who admits to not being a networking genius. To cut to the chase, getting the devices to see each other is a serious problem. One device ostensibly working fine at the router end, and one device ostensibly working fine at the PC end, but they do not see each other and you go around in maddening, ever-increasing circles trying to troubleshoot this apparent DNS/IP config problem. Windows 7 does not know how to fix it when it diagnoses connection problems. Swapping the adaptors does not work. Changing the ethernet cables does not work. Re-setting, refreshing, and re-booting everything in sight does not work.I had the same problem at installation, but somehow it magically woke up and started working at a really good speed. How exciting! But then I had to move the PC, thus also the adaptor, to another room. Back to square one: no internet connection. The troubleshooting guide that Netgear have is far too basic to be a real troubleshooter which should, IMHO, take you step by step through some diagnostic routine. It simply tells you what the lights mean. After 8 hours working this problem, you know what the lights mean! The utility that comes to manage the adaptors is also of no use for troubleshooting; it tells you what is working. It does not tell you what is not, or how to fix it.I have now asked Netgear support for some help: two days now without fast internet in the home office, and getting more and more annoyed. Let's see if they reply. I will update the review if they do.If you want to get full internet speed in a room away from your router, in short, forget this product. Install a hard cable to the other side of your place.UPDATE: Three days later, still no reply from Netgear Support, however now the device is miraculously working without any further intervention from me except starting and closing the computer five or six times over the last few days. There does definitely seem to be a serious problem with IP configuration of these powerline devices. If you rely on these to keep you working online, forget it. If you can wait three days for the device to detect the right IP config, then you might be fine. Caveat emptor.UPDATE: After a month of operating it, I am close to throwing it in the rubbish. Due to IP Configuration problems (every time the PC goes to sleep, the connection goes down and has ever more trouble finding a connection). Over the last month, the Netgear adaptor has spent about 2 out of every 3 days offline (Unidentified Network), and that is costing a fortune in network downtime. Forget this product.
