Compact design fanless and works very well! . I use the switch to extend connection to additional ports in my office. I have a Netgear prior to the switch, and adds up to 48 ports all together. DHCP manages by another Cisco Wireless Router.

As I have a small office this swicth sits on a desk and saves space due to its compact design. It is fanless, so you don't feel a thing. I would recommend NOT to stack anything on top for better ventilation. I am thinking to buy another of this to replace my Netgear as the Netgear has a loud fan.

Been using it for 6 months and continue to perform as it should. I have a HP Server running SQL database which connects to 30+ client computers, this boy and the Netgear-24 ports work together and has not fail me.

Cisco SR2024CT 24 port 10/100/1000 Compact Gigabit Switch with 2 Combo mini GBIC ports Reviews
Very reliable and fast! . I bought this for my home business network and have not been disappointed. It reliably transfers large files fast. I have had several other gigabit switches and they all perform rather poorly (slowly) when compared to the Cisco.
Cisco SR2024CT 24 port 10/100/1000 Compact Gigabit Switch with 2 Combo mini GBIC ports Opinions
Does the job . We bought this to replace a D-Link 24-port switch. The D-Link has fans and about every three years like clockwork the fans start making a loud noise. The switch is in our office, so noise is a problem. I'd blow the unit out with air, but no difference. I liked this Cisco unit because it is a 24-port gigabit switch (the D-Link only had 2 gig ports and 24 10/100 ports) and, best of all, it has no fans. The form factor is small, so it fits nicely in a small space. We've had it for about a month now and with around half the ports in use at any time, it is barely warm to the touch, so fanless does not seem to be the problem I thought it might be.
It even comes with rack mount accessories for flexibility and two miniGBIC ports for expansion.
Overall, I like this unit and would recommend it.
fast quiet simple . I've used Cisco switches for years at work, but only recently considered them for home/hobby use. We bought a new house and had the place wired with Cat5e cable for all of our home networking needs. I wanted to replace 2 older Netgear rackmount switches (similar specs) because they were getting pretty old (used them for years) and, worse, very noisy -- the fans rumbled inside the metal chassis, and the noise persisted no matter how I clean or lubricate them.So I went shopping; I narrowed the list to this Cisco and a similar D-Link. I'm sure the D-Link would have been a fine switch too, but since I have always been satisfied with Cisco quality and support, I decided to spend a little more money and get these. I'm pretty happy with the purchase. The first notable thing is these switches are almost silent. There is a tiny almost imperceptible soft click during powerup (presumably some relay in the power supply or something similar) and that's it. No appreciable amount of heat thrown off either. The other win is the power consumption: as I measure with my Kil-O-Watt the Cisco is around .08amps, which is about a quarter of the Netgears they replaced -- not bad. It may creep up a bit under load, but not much. The power savings will help offset the cost a little in my case. The Amazon page doesn't show any pictures of the rackmount kit, but it's nothing fancy -- just a nice pair of simple metal "ears" which screw on to the sides of the switch chassis. They do the job fine. This is a solid basic switch -- no VLAN or more advanced L3 features, but for an easy-to-configure home network (literally just plug it in and use it) this is a good solution -- it will cost a bit more, but the lifetime warranty eases some of the pricing pain.
