Airlink101 AWLL5055 Wireless N 150 USB Adapter with 10dBi High Gain Antenna
This review is from : Airlink101 AWLL5055 Wireless N 150 USB Adapter with 10dBi High Gain Antenna
Mixed Results w USB Wifi Adapter w Antenna . Info. for Win7 users: I like the previous version of this adapter; the Airlink AWLL3055 Adapter w Antenna which I've used on my XP and Vista computers. It worked flawlessly at picking up more wifi stations than I knew were out there, sometimes connecting to AP at quite a distance. I upgraded to this new Airlink AWLL5055 Adapter w Antenna for my new Win7-64 bit laptop and have had some problems. I had a compatibility problem between Airlink's driver not intergrating properly to my particular Win 7-64 bit Asus Laptop /maybe Wireless Console 3 driver which I discovered I did not need. The awll5055 driver stopped working sometimes after sleep mode. The Airlink tech says he hears it's been working fine for Win7 64 bit systems.
On another Note: ... I figured out how to get my earlier version Airlink AWLL3055 Adapter to work on my Win 7 "64bit" laptop using the vista driver. I had to go into the "Device Manager" to install the driver from folder available from Airlink website for Vista 64 bit driver. I like the older AWLL3055 better with it's longer usb cord. I found out the older awll3055 is noticeably faster on the internet broadband speed test for my circumstance of receiving "g" wifi signals from 100 yards away.
This is a good product at this low price range. You might have better results on a 32 bit Windows/ or Mac. The other product I would consider is the Hawking HWDN1 Hi-Gain Wireless-300N Network USB Dish Adapter, but it cost 3 times as much. I have not tested the Hawking unit, but do notice good reviews.

Airlink101 AWLL5055 Wireless N 150 USB Adapter with 10dBi High Gain Antenna Reviews
Airlink 101 . I was very sceptical of this product working as advertised. Much to my suprise it works as well or better than advertised. Appearence & construction seems to be fairly done. So if the workmanship on the interior parts is quality, I believe it will serve very well! Overall an A+ in my book.....

Airlink101 AWLL5055 Wireless N 150 USB Adapter with 10dBi High Gain Antenna Opinions
Battle tested . I sent this antenna to my son in Afghanistan, so that he could pick up a strong wifi signal at his FOB. He reports it is working well. Now he can Skype stateside when he isn't defusing roadside bombs.

Cons Review
Garbage . This may work well for some, but not for me. I am fairly knowledgeable when it comes to networking, so I ordered this because the specs were good. Unfortunately, my laptop adapter works betther than this antenna. Worse yet, the two guys in the tent next to me ordered them via my advice, and they also said the item was worthless. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. IT IS A WASTE OF TIME.
Lously range for 10dB . My netbook sometimes has problems with range when staying at some hotels, so I got this unit. Well, my netbook gets 5 bars across the room from my router at home and this only got 4? This was only 10' away! Another part for the junk pile.
