TEW-434APB Wireless PoE Access Point is todays link to Wireless Technology. Compliant with the IEEE Wireless Networking Standard 802.11g, it provides Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) operation for transparent bridging and roaming capabilities for wireless nodes. The TEW-434APB also provides WDS bridging functions, allowing users to connect two or more Access Points together, wirelessly. With this Wireless Access Point and Wireless Network Adapters, users can connect to Ethernet/Fast Ethernet LAN at home or office to access network resources with coverage up to 300 meters.

Works well didn't need PoE . I recently bought a LCD TV that has an Ethernet connection to get on the internet. I dreaded the thought of running a cable to the TV. After looking around for an easier solution I found this and once I set it up as an "access client" it worked great. If you can set up a wireless router you will have no problem with the set up. It can be used on anything that has an Ethernet connection. I tested it on an older laptop that is just wireless B (11 Mbps), I disabled the wireless on the laptop and just connected the Trendnet to the laptop and now it is much faster on the internet. I also plan on using it on my new Blu-ray player that has the Netflix capability. I misunderstood the PoE feature as being able to draw power through the Ethernet cable like with USB devices, I was wrong and spent $10 more than I had to. Oh-well, lesson learned. Get the "TEW-430APB" unless you really have PoE.

When you need an accesspoint but don't have AC nearby . PoE means power over Ethernet. When paired with a PoE switch or PoE adapter this unit powers itself through just the Ethernet cable. Very handy. As for the access point itself, upgrade the firmware to the latest as I did and the configuration will be plenty easy. The coverage is pretty good - even through a concrete floor to two apartments and surrounding areas. Nice!

This is a solid product . I have to admit that I was skeptical when I stumbled across this AP - Trendnet is not a brand that I know a lot about and the price was significantly less then others. I fact, while I needed 4 APs, I only bought one just to test it out - I would rather pay more and get something that it's going to cause me a headache. Well, the 434 works beautifully and was fairly easy to setup. The admin section does not provide as many features as the admin section from a Cisco/Linksys router but it does contain enough of the main features to make my happy. Anyway, I am pleased with this AP and since my first purchase, I got the remaining 3 I needed. I definitely recommend this AP.

It's okay . It does the job, but the instructions are really bad and poorly written - obviously by someone who does not speak English. I'm glad I read the previous reviews as the reviewers all recommended that one put the unit in the AP Client Mode. Nothing in the instructions hints at that at all.
Just the ticket! . I needed a bridge for my Sony XBR9 television and this device in the Access Point Client Mode works like a champ. The device setup directions in the box were good, but I managed to mess up the first setup. I was having issues with Explorer during setup and called Tech Support. They were awesome. Used Firefox to set up and it worked just like I needed. Take the part in the setup serious about setting, at least momentarily, your computers IP address to match the first three numbers of the device's default IP address. I used a laptop to program the device. Now my TV has downloaded the most current software for itself and I am watching movies and TV shows over the internet.
Worked like a champ! . I deployed three of these to overlay Wifi in our church. They were easy to configure and deploy. I powered them off a Netgear FS726TP ProSafe 24 Port 10/100 Smart Switch with 2 Gigabit Ports and 12 Port POE, and they worked like a champ. Considering they are a fraction of the cost of any other POE WAP I could find, I would definitely use them again.
Very good item! . I had a little doubt when I bought this product since it was not a brand I knew but I have to say it worked out very well for me. It's so easy to set up and the wireless connection is just so good. The price is nice too.
Cons Review
Careful . I have struggled with this thing for several months. I am using it as a repeater with WPA2 security. It will operate when first configured, but if I turn my laptop off and then back on a day later it won't pick up the repeater -- just the source AP. Power cycling the TEW sometimes works but it's a pain to have to do so. I have downloaded and installed the latest firmware update. The documentation is very thin for all but the basic AP applications. From other reviews, it seems to work well enough for that, but for the trickier stuff you're on your own -- tech support just sends out boilerplate responses.
