Providing speeds up to 10x faster than that of USB 2.0, this PCI Express USB 3.0 card enables you to access your data and transfer files much faster than USB 2.0, by adding two USB 3.0 ports to your PCI Express capable PC. Featuring a native NEC PCI Express host controller chipset, the new USB 3.0 standard supports transfer rates of up to 5Gbps, while still providing connectivity and support for the older USB 2.0 (480Mbps) and 1.1 (12Mbps) devices. In addition to providing a much faster transfer rate the PEXUSB3S2 USB 3.0 card also supplies 900mA of power per USB port, allowing more and more external devices to operate without the need of an additional power source.

USB3 . Works as advertised. With a SATA 300 drive in a USB3 (SuperSpeed) enclosure and this USB3 interface, 4 Gig file transfers take 43 seconds instead of 2-1/2 min + with USB2.

StarTech.com 2 Port PCI Express SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Card Adapter (PEXUSB3S2) Reviews
Works fantastic with Windows 7 64-bit on Dell XPS 9000 computer . My StarTech.com 2 Port PCI Express SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Card Adapter (PEXUSB3S2) review: With the exception of the instruction manual not specifying exactly which folder on the CD contained the "setup.exe" file for this product I have no complaints with the installation or performance of this USB 3.0 card adapter. The file is located at
\PCIe\NEC uPD720200\setup.exe on the CD and is the same version as the one on their website. The file transfer speed from my internal hard drive to the external 3TB Western Digital drive (purchased at Costco on sale for $109.99) was about 105 Megabytes/sec - much faster than the same drive plugged into the motherboard's USB 2.0 port. The USB 3.0 port speed matched that of transfering files between two internal SATA drives.Because all of my computer's SATA power supply connectors were being used (three internal hard drives and two Blu-Ray drives) I had to buy a six dollar SATA power supply "Y" (splitter) cable assembly to connect with the supplied power cable of the USB 3.0 card adapter but if you have a spare SATA power connector in your computer you will not have to buy anything beyond what comes in the box.Once you install the driver the Windows 7 device manager should show "Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller" and "Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Root Hub" under the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" section.I highly recommend this product!
-------------------------------------------------UPDATE: December 2, 2011So far no problems with this product. I did want to add that the data transfer rate will depend on if you are transferring one huge file (as in my test results mentioned above) or transferring hundreds of little files. In the latter case I noticed the rate dropped down to about 30 MB/sec. This has nothing to do with the card but rather the extra time needed for the hard drive to seek out and find each file. The same thing happens when you are transferring hundreds of little files between two internal hard drives.

StarTech.com 2 Port PCI Express SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Card Adapter (PEXUSB3S2) Opinions
StarTech does not disappoint . Good product information and instructions. Does what it claims.
Great speeds with USB 3.0 flash drive. I also added the
StarTech 4port USB 3.0 hub for future use. I would buy this again.

Fast and simple. . Arrived quickly, installation was a snap. Speed was three to four times normal. The only recommendation would be to have it port to the front of the computer instead of the rear.
After Resolving Driver Install Issue Has Worked Perfectly . Easily physically installed in desktop but first attempt at driver installation appeared to work but did not. After uninstalling and re-installing the same driver, it worked fine and has continued to do so ever since.
Also, due to poor information from the manufacturer's customer service area, I wasted a few dollars buying a Sata to LP4 Pin Power adapter that was not needed. Prior to purchasing this unit, I contatce the the manufacturer's customer service area to ask about comatability with my computer, etc. During that conversation, I was told that the unit did not come with the Sata to LP4 adapter I would need, even though the description said one was included in the package. Thus, I bought a separate adapter along with this unit. When both were received in the same shipping carton, the package for this unit did, in fact, contain an equivalent functioning adapter with 6" connectors.

STARTECH @_PORT PCIe USB CARD PXUSB3S2 . This card alowed me to go from about 20/Mbs to 60/Mbs (plus) using my Seagate Goflex desktop 2 TB hard drive, and using the USB-3.0software that came with the card, plan to try out the Segate USB-3.0 software and see if there is any differences +/-. A nice boost though and helpful. I've hit 120/Mbs but not for prolonged spans though. Most likely the 64Meg Cache, but that helps for the over all performance.
Price was a great consideration in getting this card, it is easy on the pocket, infact the best price I found at the time... @ Amazon.com, and am well pleased.

Good product overall . This product works well. I had a problem with the installation disc provided. Installation did not go as the instructions were written. However the company does have a website which provides the driver downloads for free. After no luck with the provided disc, I downloaded the driver from the website and the install went smoothly. For reference i have a 64 bit system running windows 7 ultimate. I have installed this product and use the new usb ports for a 3TB external harddrive. Speed is clearly faster than usb 2.0 (however i have not experienced a 10x increase in speed as some people claim, more like 1.5x or 2x faster).
Cons Review
Decent device pathetic company . The device does not work well with the drivers provided. The tech support directs you to a website, where their latest drivers are listed: from 2009 (!) At the time of this review, it is almost April of 2011. Yes, it is hard to believe - but they only support a driver that is two years old. I contacted their tech support via chat - and they said the new drivers (which I found myself on the web from other sites) were "not supported". When I probed further they simply disconnected the chat - Twice! (These guys are the exactly opposite of good customer-service.) I took a leap of faith & installed the latest NEC drivers anyway and the device working so far. That's the only reason I venture a second star: Despite the headache and the lack of support - I've got it working, no thanks to startech. Suggest this USB 3.0 interface only people comfortable with PC technology & troubleshooting.
Slow transfer rate . On my windows 7 32bit, I normally see about 20MB/s transfer rate on my USB 2.0 to external hard drive. This card is doing just a bit better around 28MB/s. Windows 7 did not recognize the card, and the Driver came with CD did not work! Had to download driver from startech.com. I then tested with USB 3.0 external hard drive, and the speed started out at 65MBs but then dropping down to about 28MB/s. It can't sustain USB 3.0 transfer rate. Going to return and try something else.
